New Delhi: Times Network, India’s premium broadcast network, in partnership with Qualcomm hosted the Snapdragon for India - Auto Day: Leadership Dialogues, presented by AWS and co-powered by KPIT, in a high-impact initiative to spotlight India’s auto-tech future. The landmark event brought together industry stalwarts from across the automotive, semiconductor, and technology sectors—featuring participation from top global and Indian brands including Qualcomm, AWS, KPIT, Maruti, BMW, Renault, Mahindra, TATA Motors, Google, amongst others. Through a series of thought-provoking dialogues, the forum explored how India is rapidly positioning itself as a hub for software-defined vehicles, showcasing the collaborative push towards smarter, safer, and software-defined mobility. Delivering the Keynote Address, Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India, Government of India said, “Our automobile industry is the most important industry for the country — it’s now the third largest globally, having surpassed Japan, with a size of ₹22 lakh crore. It creates 4 crore jobs, contributes highest GST revenue, and plays a crucial role in our economic growth. In due course, India will become the number one automotive industry in the world.” He further added, “The industry is transforming with electric, ethanol, methanol, biodiesel, LNG, CNG, and hydrogen. Startups and manufacturers are pushing innovation, quality, and global standards. Two-wheeler exports by companies like Bajaj, TVS, and Honda now stand at 50%. Road safety is a key focus — with Bharat NCAP, ABS in two-wheelers, and ₹40,000 crore being spent on eliminating black spots. We have launched the Zero Fatality Corridor Initiative and awareness campaigns in 22 languages. Hydrogen is the fuel of the future. We have begun large-scale hydrogen truck trials with Tata, Reliance, IOCL, Ashok Leyland, and others. The National Green Hydrogen Mission aims for 5 MMT by 2030, saving ₹1 lakh crore in fuel imports and creating 6 lakh jobs.” The summit underscored India’s potential to lead the global auto-tech shift, powered by local innovation, embedded intelligence, and resilient ecosystems. There was a strong focus on fostering homegrown IP, advancing EV infrastructure, and equipping talent with future-ready skills across embedded systems and smart vehicle platforms.
