Saying ‘I don’t feel like it today’ is not professionally acceptable behaviour,” Irani remarked. She further added that while creativity remains a major focus, the industry should also find new ways to enhance its market value. When asked about the controversy surrounding Deepika Padukone’s reported exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming film Spirit and the sequel to Kalki 2989 AD, Irani said, “That’s an individual issue. Many controversies are created just to sell stories. I won’t indulge in that stupidity.”Reflecting on her own career, she shared, “I worked through two pregnancies on this very set with a female producer. I was adamant about ensuring her success because, as an actor, it was my responsibility to keep the ship sailing.”Emphasising accountability, Irani said, “It was my choice to be an actor, a politician, and a mother. If I’ve made these choices, I must be responsible for them. I can’t expect others to adjust their work ethic to suit my decisions. If I don’t show up to work, 120 people lose their pay for the day—it’s unfair to them and their families.”Meanwhile, reports suggest that Alia Bhatt may join Kalki 2989 AD 2, replacing Deepika Padukone, who played Sumathi in the first film.
