Virat Kohli tops Indian celebrity brand valuation rankings again; Ranveer and SRK still dominate: Report

India's celebrity endorsement landscape is experiencing a downturn, with anticipated sluggish growth in brand value among the top 25 stars in 2024. Nonetheless, Virat Kohli, Ranveer Singh, and Shah Rukh Khan remain at the pinnacle, retaining their positions as the country's most valuable celebrities.According to a report by Kroll, a global financial and risk advisory solutions provider, the combined brand value of the top 25 Indian celebrities is projected to reach 2 billion dollars in 2024. In 2023, the combined brand value of the top 25 celebrities surged by 15.5 per cent to approximately 1.9 billion dollars compared to 2022. However, growth is expected to decelerate to around 5 per cent in 2024.Top valued Indian celebrityAccording to the Kroll report, Virat Kohli will retain the top spot with a brand value of 231.1 million dollars in 2024. His brand value has increased by about 2 per cent from 227.9 million dollars in 2023.Who are in second and third positions?Ranveer Singh remains in second place on the list of stars, although his brand value declined to 170.7 million dollars last year, compared to 203.1 million dollars previously. Shah Rukh Khan retained the third spot with a 21 per cent increase in total brand value to 145.7 million dollars, while Alia Bhatt took the fourth spot with a total brand value of 116.4 million dollars this year.Several celebrities saw a significant increase in their brand value and moved up the rankings, including Sachin Tendulkar, who is now the fifth most valuable celebrity, with a brand value of 112.2 million dollars, up from 91.3 million dollars in 2023. This increase is due to a significant increase in the number of his brand endorsements.Other celebrities who saw a significant increase in their brand value include Kriti Sanon, who moved from 27th to 19th place; Tamannaah Bhatia, who moved from 28th to 21st place; Jasprit Bumrah, who moved from 22nd place; and Ananya Panday, who moved from 46th to 25th place. Sanon's brand value is 44.8 million dollars, Bhatia's 40.4 million dollars, and Pandey's 35.2 million dollars.Rashmika Mandanna, ranked 15th, has a brand value of 58.9 million dollars, followed by Tamannaah Bhatia with a brand value of 40.4 million dollars and Allu Arjun with a brand value of 35.5 million dollars.In 2024, Hindi cinema's box office share dropped to 39.5 per cent, whereas South Indian cinema's share rose to 47.7 per cent, highlighting a notable shift in audience preferences.
