Disney+ is new brand name of Disney+ Hotstar in these countries - LIST | What it means for subscribers?

Disney announced that, starting October 9, 2025, its streaming service Disney+ Hotstar will be rebranded officially as Disney+ across several Southeast Asian countries, including Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Indonesia.Earlier this year, a merger was completed between Disney's Star India and Reliance. As a result of this merger, Disney+ Hotstar in India was merged with JioCinema, which became JioHotstar.Disney's global rebranding from Star to Hulu aims to streamline its streaming services worldwide, delivering a more unified viewing experience across various countries.What does this mean for subscribers? According to a report on What's On Disney Plus, a Disney+ fansite, subscribers in these countries can expect no changes to the content library, allowing them to continue enjoying their favourite shows, including award-winning general entertainment, family programming, and an expanding collection of APAC Originals.In the United States, the service will not include everything available on Hulu, the rebranding is focused on creating a more unified global streaming experience.The Hulu tile will introduce subscribers to exciting shows of American, Korean, and Japanese origin. Highly anticipated titles include:Ryan Murphy's stylish and high-stakes legal drama "All's Fair" stars Glenn Close, Kim Kardashian, and Niecy Nash.The light-hearted Korean romantic comedy "Would You Marry Me?" stars Choi Woo-shik and Jung So-min.The action-packed Korean thriller "The Manipulated" stars Ji Changwook and Doh Kyungsoo.The visually dynamic, coming-of-age Japanese anime "Wandance" stars.This exciting lineup includes critically acclaimed global hits such as Grey's Anatomy, Modern Family, Shogun, and High Potential, as well as popular Korean and Japanese content, including Tempest, Nine Puzzles, The Judge from Hell, A Shop for Killers, Moving, and Gannibal.
