Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 has been on a dream run at the box office since its release on October 2. The film stormed past multiple records to become the 12th biggest hit in Indian cinema and the second biggest of 2025, registering the highest Saturday, Sunday and Monday collections of the year in its opening week. However, the film’s momentum slowed during the second week. Despite maintaining a strong hold, Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 could not surpass the second-weekend benchmark set by Vicky Kaushal and Laxman Utekar’s Chhaava. The period drama continues to hold the title for the highest-grossing second weekend and second Tuesday of 2025.On its second Tuesday, Kantara 2 collected Rs 13.50 crore, falling short of Chhaava’s Rs 18.5 crore. Both films saw limited weekday boosts, with Kantara 2 managing Rs 13.35 crore on Monday, compared to Chhaava’s Rs 18 crore.Even so, Rishab Shetty’s film has achieved a notable feat, it now holds the second-highest second Tuesday collection of the year, overtaking Saiyaara, directed by Mohit Suri and starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, which had earned Rs 10 crore on its second Tuesday. With a total collection of Rs 465.75 crore, Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 is inching closer to the Rs 500 crore milestone, which it is expected to reach by Friday.Featuring Gulshan Devaiah, Jayaram and Rukmini Vasanth in key roles, the film ends on a cliffhanger, setting up the next part of the saga. The makers have confirmed that a third chapter is in the works, though Rishab Shetty is expected to return to the franchise only after completing his upcoming projects, Jai Hanuman and a biopic on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
