NHAI outlines for 1st time National Asset Monetization Strategy; aims to monetise 1472 kms in FY 2025-26

NHAI's Asset Monetization Strategy: The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has for the first time detailed a strategy to monetize assets. The strategy aims to unlock value, increase public-private participation, and develop infrastructure in India.For FY 2025-26, under the Strategy, NHAI targets to monetize assets of 1472 kms that span in various states.Through various model of assets Monetization, NHAI targets for assets of various kms of length in states like :Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Gujrat, Jharkhand, Odisha, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal NHAI targets that this 1472 kms of assets Monetization will fetch the govt run agency around Rs 40,000 cr. The strategy, outlined in the "Asset Monetization Strategy for the Road Sector," utilizes:Toll-Operate-Transfer (ToT) model Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InvITs) SecuritizationThe Asset Monetization Strategy is based on three Core Pillars:-# Value maximization of government road assets.# Transparency of processes and investor information dissemination.# Market development through deepening investor base and stakeholder engagement.NHAI's strategy aligns with the Government of India's asset monetization plan for 2025-30.NHAI has already raised over Rs 1.4 lakh crore (Rs 1.4 trillion) in the past by monetizing assets ( highways & expressway ) of more than 6100 kms.The strategy implementation will provide NHAI with a steady stream of financing, reducing reliance on traditional funding sources.NHAI possesses a monetizable asset base valued at ₹3.5-4 lakh crore.
