AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Friday (May 23, 2025) demanded that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) roll back its recent stipulations on gold loans.
In a statement, Mr. Palaniswami said this would affect the poor, farmers, and the middle class. He also wanted gold coins issued by private shops to be tested properly.
Separately, the AMMK chief T.T.V. Dhinakaran called for the relaxation of the norms, which he said caused confusion among the people.
In a seperate statement, CPI(M) State secretary P. Shanmugam strongly condemned the RBI guidelines and called for its rollback.
